Through education and resources, we aim to empower nurturers and role models to bring the Power of Fatherhood to Missourians
Fathers play an important role in the lives of their children, families, and communities. Healthy and positive
father involvement in a child's formative years has been shown to promotes positive outcomes in youth and
adulthood.
Key insights from the Child & Family Research Partnership's Fatherhood Resource Hub show that children who
grow up with an involved father figure are more likely to receive better grades and go to college or find a
stable job, and less likely to experience teen birth or spend time in jail. An actively involved father figure leads
to greater success in children's mental, emotional, educational, and social states.

Although the impact of fatherhood on successful children and families is apparent, being a successful parent can be challenging. Resources are available to educate and equip fathers to be involved and active in their children's lives, even if they do not reside in the same home or are restricted to visitation schedules. The National Responsible Fatherhood Clearinghouse offers tips, activities, and support to fathers to equip them as they navigate parenthood in today's world.

There is no question that when fathers are involved, children thrive. Studies confirm that an involved father plays a critical role in the cognitive, behavioral, and well-being areas of a child's life. Building on research that demonstrates the importance of father involvement, Powerhouse Community Development offers programs through the Power of Fatherhood designed to support men and help them grow to be the role model and nurturer their family needs.
The Power of Fatherhood program offers tips for connecting with kids, getting involved at school, setting yourself up for self-sufficiency as a parent, and much more. Powerhouse Community Development also partners with other stakeholders to offer the Focus on Fatherhood initiative, which seeks to provide parent education and peer support.
Our Fatherhood Program, administered by the Missouri Division of Child Support Services, aims to empower participants and provide services to help noncustodial parents achieve self-sufficiency. This employment-based service educates parents and encourages them to increase their involvement in their children's lives.
