Awareness. Support. Prevention.
Powerhouse Community Development offers education and resources to domestic violence victims and allies — bringing awareness, providing tools, and empowering our communities to recognize and prevent abuse.
Domestic Violence Affects Everyone
Domestic Violence used to be thought of as a family problem — a private issue in which outsiders should not get involved. The truth is, domestic violence affects everyone.
Domestic Violence occurs among all ages, genders, races, educational backgrounds, denominations, and socioeconomic groups. It does not discriminate, and it cannot be solved in silence.
Powerhouse is committed to educating and assisting domestic violence victims as they deal with this devastating form of abuse. Our goal is to conduct seminars throughout Saline and neighboring counties — empowering individuals through training, awareness, health information, and prevention techniques.
Four Types of Abuse
Recognizing abuse in all its forms is the first step toward seeking help and breaking the cycle.
Physical Abuse
Any intentional act causing injury or trauma to another person through bodily contact — including hitting, pushing, choking, or restraining.
Sexual Abuse
Any non-consensual sexual act or behavior, including rape, coercion, or exploitation within intimate relationships.
Psychological Abuse
Emotional manipulation, intimidation, isolation, threats, or humiliation that damages a person's mental health and self-worth.
Economic Abuse
Controlling a person's access to financial resources — including withholding money, sabotaging employment, or creating financial dependency.
Education, Awareness & Empowerment
Powerhouse Community Development is committed to educating and assisting domestic violence victims as they navigate this difficult reality. We do not believe in silence — we believe in community, accountability, and healing.
Our domestic violence programming extends throughout Saline and neighboring counties, offering seminars, training, and prevention resources that equip both survivors and allies with the knowledge and tools they need to act.
